What do we mean by “interactive”?  Well, with this new and exciting way to blog, you may now leave us comments or ask us important questions and get our feedback!  It’s quick, it’s fun and it’s easy!

We want to hear from you! 

We look forward to answering your questions and receiving your opinions about our program and services.  And our new interactive blog is a perfect way to start our conversation!

Please remember not to put anything private in a blog post to us or to anyone else; don’t send your Social Security Number, your Medicaid ID number, or anything you don’t want the whole world to see.  Keep your personal health information private!

    Where is the initial password located on the enrollment form?

      Great question!

      The initial password is listed on the first letter you received from Georgia Families concerning enrolling. You should have received this notification letter before your enrollment form.

      If you cannot find your initial password within your Georgia Families materials, please contact us by calling 1-888-GA-ENROLL (1-888-423-6765).

    How do you get the free YMCA Family membership, if you are on Wellcare? Do you need to go to the YMCA first? Or is this handled on your end?

      To utilize this service, you would first need to contact WellCare. Please contact them directly to inquire about this great program. Here is their contact information:

        I also have questions about the YMCA benefit. My daughter has the Wellcare Health Plan, is it possible for me to use the YMCA benefit and then be able to take her to the indoor pool? I had stopped by my local YMCA membership at one point and they said I would have to pay the full membership fee for me and then she would be free….We can’t afford the membership fee, is there anyway around that?

    I am trying to find out why my Medicaid stopped and how to get help.

      Georgia Families does not handle Medicaid eligibility, and as such, we cannot provide you with this information. However, the state of Georgia has a website called COMPASS that allows members to:

      Apply for Public Assistance
      Get Community Partner Resources to assist with the application process
      See the status of their application
      View benefits information
      Report a change
      Renew benefits (complete the case review process)

      The website address for COMPASS is http://www.compass.ga.gov. If you cannot access this website, you may contact the Online Service Hotline at 1-877-423-4746.

      The Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) office is better suited to provide you with the information you need concerning Medicaid coverage and they should be able to answer any questions you may have. We apologize for the inconvenience.

    My children received their Medicaid cards and the information about enrolling in the health plans. We picked a PCP and health plan, but it says the plan doesn’t start until Dec. 1st. Medicaid coverage began Oct. 1st. Does that mean they can’t see the PCP until after Dec. 1st?

      Good question!

      At this time you can take your child to see any doctor that accepts Medicaid. Once your health plan is effective, you should take your child to the PCP listed on your new health plan card.

    Are my children’s shots still covered under all of these new health plans?

      Yes. All of the services offered by Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids are offered by each of the health plans. In fact, each of health plans offer extra services not usually covered by Medicaid/PeachCare for Kids.

      On the back side of the yellow comparison chart, included in your enrollment packet, there is a list of the extra services offered by each health plan.

      If you need help selecting a health plan, please feel free to contact us directly. Our Enrollment Counselors can be reached at 1-888-GA-Enroll (1-888-423-6765), Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., (TDD: 1-877-889-4424). (Please listen to all of the prompts before making a number selection. Select option #1 for Georgia Families, then option #1 for “Check Enrollment Status”. Then enter option #2 for “Using your Medicaid ID number”. When prompted for a Member ID, enter nothing. You will be prompted a second time to enter a Member ID number. Enter nothing again. You will then be transferred directly to an Enrollment Counselor.)

    I had enrolled my children in WellCare plan on Georgia families website on July 9,2014. I got Enrolment Summary which say that Health plan enrollment start date : 01 August 2014. Today is July 31, 2014. I didn’t received WellCare health plan card. How do I get a health plan card.

    I have chosen Wellcare and it is said to start January 1, 2015 but i have not received a correspondence regarding my enrollment or a summary of it. What should i do?

    I am 61 years old and I have my grandchildren. They are enrolled in a plan. I am not. Does this mean that I do not have health care?

      When you applied for Medicaid for your grandchildren, did you also apply for yourself? Please contact them via their COMPASS website to see if you are currently active. The COMPASS portal will allow you to:

       Apply for Public Assistance

    I can’t find my initial password and when I call the 888 number there is no option to speak with a person.
