Keeping the Doctor You Like


A medical exam.If you go to a doctor now who knows you and your family– we want you to be able to keep going to that doctor to get your Medicaid health services.

We understand how important that relationship is, and we want you to be able to keep going to the same doctor if you want to.

When you join a health plan, you can choose any doctor in the plan to be your primary care provider (PCP).  Ask your doctor if his office works with a Georgia Families plan. The office may work with one or more plans, and if that’s so– you can sign up for one of them.

    My doctor is not in the PCP directory I recieved in the mail..what should I do?

      You should contact us directly by calling 1-888-GA-ENROLL (1-888-423-6765). Our Enrollment Counselors can help you search for doctors in your area.

    I am currently enrolled with Peach State but the doctor that I desire wants me to switch to WellCare. How do I go about doing this?

      If you would like to change your health plan, please call Georgia Families at 1-888-GA-ENROLL (1-888-423-6765). The Georgia Families Enrollment Center is open from Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

      We will need to look at your case specifically to see if you are able to change health plans at this time.

    I am thinking about applying for PeachCare for Kids. When you are approved for PeachCare, you also have to apply for Georgia Familes, correct? If so, my doctor said they take Peachcare for Kids but not the Peach State Health Plan. How do I know for sure? Can I call Georgia Families and have the provider searched to see if they are covered under the health plan?

      Once your child is deemed eligible for Medicaid or PeachCare for Kids, you will automatically be sent a Georgia Families enrollment packet. You may then enroll with Georgia Families in one of four (4) ways:

      1. Mail or fax in your enrollment form,
      2. Call the Georgia Families Enrollment Center at 1-888-GA-ENROLL,
      3. Enroll in your community with a Georgia Families Outreach staff member, or
      4. Enroll on our website.

      A provider directory will be included in your packet. You may search for your current provider there, or you can contact us directly to search for you.

    If a pediatrician see’s your newborn for the first time in the hospital, and tells you to follow up with them in 3 days and you do. They charge your Medicaid for the hospital fees and follow up visit, but then tell me I have 30 days to pick a new provider because they aren’t taking any “new Medicaid” patients?? Is this legal, and what should I do?

      If you are a member of Georgia Families, it’s much more important that you select a provider that accepts your health plan. You see, now that your baby is born, the child will automatically be enrolled into your health plan starting on the baby’s date of birth.

      You will then have 90 days from the baby’s date of birth to make a one-time change if you choose to. But on the 91st day, if no changes are made, your child will stay in that health plan until the next year.

      Thus, I encourage you to contact us to select a health plan and provider. If that provider states that they are not accepting new patients, you will need to select a different one.

    I can’t find the provider number for Samuel Cobarrubias in Clinch county. Is there anyway I can get it, or find it?

      Dr. Samuel Cobarrubias’ provider number is #23211. According to our system, he currently accepts all three health plans.

      (Please listen to all of the prompts before making a number selection. Select option #1 for Georgia Families, then option #1 for “Check Enrollment Status”. Then enter option #2 for “Using your Medicaid ID number”. When prompted for a Member ID, enter nothing. You will be prompted a second time to enter a Member ID number. Enter nothing again. You will then be transferred directly to an Enrollment Counselor.)
